Jobnob YouTube Channel: jobnobdotcom

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

We finallly set up a YouTube channel for Jobnob so now everyone can watch pitches from our events.  To get to our channel you can go to http://www.youtube.com/user/jobnobdotcom or just do a search for “Jobnob” on YouTube and all of the videos should come up.

Here are some of the videos we took from the Jobnob Docstoc Happy Hour in Los Angeles on December 9, 2009.

This first one gives you a sense of the crowd and the venue (Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice)

This one shows the Mahalo company pitch at the event:

And you can find videos for all of the other companies who pitched too at our YouTube Channel jobnobdotcom.  Enjoy!

20 companies pitch at Jobnob-Docstoc LA Happy Hour

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

We’re starting a new tradition where after an event we’ll post the 20 companies who got to pitch at the last happy hour.  Since those companies get a chance to get up in front of the crowd, they always get a lot of attention.  So now you can just look here and see who they were.

We had some really terrific startups and companies pitching at our Los Angeles Happy Hour on Dec. 9th at the Air Conditioned Supper Club.  You can click on any of their names which will tak you to their Jobnob profile.  From there, you can email any of the companies you are interested in talking to.

Jobnob Docstoc Los Angeles Happy Hour a Huge Success!

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Wednesday night over 300 of LA’s hottest startups and most talented jobseekers crammed into the Air Conditioned Supper Club to attend the first Jobnob-Docstoc Happy Hour jobnob-docstoc-logo.  Space was tight as people moved around the room to get their free food (courtesy of Docstoc) and schmooze with the hundreds of people at the event.  Twenty companies also got the chance to pitch the crowd on their companies and jobs.

The idea behind Jobnob is to connect jobseekers and startups both in an online community at www.jobnob.com as well as at in person events.  Jobnob has already put on 9 successful events in the Bay Area, but this was the first time the event was brought to the Los Angeles startup scene.

all-logos While the event was open to anyone, special partners included: USC Viterbi School of Engineering, USC Marshall School of Business, UCLA Anderson School of Business, UCLA Henry Samueli Engineering School, Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business, and the Technology Council of SouthernCalifornia (TCOSC).

You can see a list of companies and jobseekers who attended at http://www.jobnob.com/happy-hour/LosAngeles-dec-9-2009. Just click on the blue buttons JOBSEEKERS ATTENDING and COMPANIES ATTENDING and click on a profile if you want to contact someone.  You can also download a pdf file of all of the startups and their jobs at http://www.jobnob.com/files/Jobnob-Docstoc-Happy-Hour-Company-Jobs-List.pdf

Special thanks to Jason Nazar and Docstoc for making this such a terrific event!

Women2.0 interviews Julie Greenberg of Jobnob

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Women2.0 recently interviewed me for their In Conversation video series on what it’s like to be a woman founder of an internet startup.  Women2.0 is an organization that is dedicated to increasing the number of women entrepreneurs in tech ventures.  You can see the whole video below.  I talk about the following questions:

  • What is Jobnob?
  • What’s a mistake that you made early in your career that you don’t want others to repeat?
  • Who was one of your role models?
  • How did you find interns for your startup?
  • What was the value of earning your MBA before starting Jobnob?
