About us:
Friendfactor is building the first social media platform that uses the power of
friends – gay and straight – to help get LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Trans)
friends basic legal freedoms, faster.
We’re aiming to dramatically accelerate legal equality for LGBT Americans by
activating millions of "untapped supporters"—most of whom are straight—to take
a series of actions that will catalyze federal and state legislative progress. We’re
building a powerful online platform that will make equality personal for gay and
straight people across the country. This new peer-to-peer platform will allow us
to reframe the LGBT equality struggle as one that is isn’t about ideology, but
about friendship.
This is a full time position.
Overview:
* Own products and features throughout their entire development cycle, from concept to launch.
* Facilitate the collaboration between designers, developers and the rest of the Friendfactor team.
* Gather requirements, track metrics on existing and turn ideas into well-planned and executed products.
* Create a comprehensive product roadmap and execute against delivery milestones.
* Facilitate user feedback and testing and incorporate findings into new and existing products.
* Take a leadership role in the design and development for our web platform.
Qualifications:
* Experience working in product management at a consumer web company
and/or online advocacy organization (social networking and agile experience,
start-up environment preferred)
* A strong understanding of current web technologies, standards and how the web ecosystem is evolving.
* Experience and success using team-based software development approaches and iterative launches.
* Ability to think strategically about short-term and long-term solution tradeoffs.
* Ability to both balance detail orientation with big picture vision.
* Excitement for working in a start-up environment.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* Ability and interest in being the users’ advocate.
* Excellent people, organizational and time management skills.
* Enthusiasm for working collaboratively on cross-functional teams and coordinating between them.
* User experience and design expertise.
* Fluency with Illustrator or InDesign a strong plus.
* Enthusiasm to wear many hats as needed; jumping in to spec designs and mock-ups or to execute quick code changes, as needed.
* Familiarity with Drupal is a strong plus.
