Party Earth is looking for a Jr. Web Programmer for the Party Earth website (www.partyearth.com) and web-related applications. The Developer will be responsible for coding and maintaining a variety of features and applications to meet specific site requirements.

Responsibilities
• Serve as a key member of the development team for PartyEarth.com and related applications
• Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle
o Assist in translating business and functional requirements into technical design documentation
o Code core components of applications and databases
o Participate in code reviews
o Document technical test plans and conduct technical testing
o Fix bugs and issues found during testing and ongoing operations
o Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technical implementation meets the business and functional requirements
• Communicate technical and implementation status and issues to management
• Assess website and traffic needs to determine optimal server and performance configurations
• Assist in maintaining the development, test, and production environments

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of web development experience
• Experience implementing and testing one or more of the following – ideally in the media and entertainment industry:
o Content-focused websites (written, photo, video, and user-generated content)
o User communities/Social networks
o Content management systems
o Mobile sites and mobile applications
o Search Engine Optimization
o Marketing and advertising components
o E-commerce/store/shopping cart
o Use of third-party sites, tools, and functionality (i.e. Google Maps, You Tube)
• Knowledge of web development best practices and the newest and current web technologies
• Ability to design and implement scalable applications and large scale, high traffic websites
• Ability to think outside the box and come up with original ideas for solving business problems using technology
• Experience programming throughout all phases of the system development lifecycle
• Ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications, implement according to specifications, and test the code
• Experience in debugging and resolving issues
• Ability to work in a team environment but also independently with minimum direction
• Strong work ethic
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
• Extreme attention to detail
• Ability to work in a “start-up” environment
• B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related field

Programming/Technical Qualifications:
• Primary Skills: Ruby on Rails, Javascript
• Nice to Have: mySQL, HTML, CSS, Flash, Ajax
• Database design and development
• Content Management Systems
• Git (or other configuration management tools)
• Photo and video web technologies and applications
• Mobile application development/iPhone application development
• Mapping/geo-mapping technologies
• Software bug tracker tools
• Support for multiple browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
• Server configuration and maintenance
