In 2009, nine students came together from four different schools at Northwestern University to found a medical device company called MediNine™. MediNine™ was created partly as a class project for a cross-disciplinary program and partly to make a direct and positive impact on the medical field. The students pursued this aim by catering to the needs of surgeons, physicians, hospital-staffs, and, most importantly, patients.

As its first product, MediNine™ developed Impressure™, a device that aids lower limb surgery patients accurately carry out their post-operative rehabilitation and prescribed weight-bearing protocol. MediNine™ has done market assessments of the medical device industry as a whole and of the orthopedic rehabilitation device sector in specific. The research shows a clear and compelling market opportunity for Impressure™.
