What is Membase? Membase, Inc., along with Zynga and NHN, founded the membase.org open source project.
Membase is a high-performance, elastic key-value database, based on the ubiquitous memcached project; Membase is 100% backward compatible with memcached. A very simple migration strategy allows users of memcached (and there are tens of thousands of them) to begin using membase with absolutely no change to existing code. Membase provides quasi-deterministic low latency and high sustained throughput, and it scales linearly from a single-server deployment to a cluster of thousands of machines.
