General Summary

We are crafting an enterprise-wide strategy that will help meet the demands of our rapidly growing retail business and are looking for a highly motivated and well rounded Software Development Manager with SAP Experience who knows how to lead a team in creating enterprise-capable applications. You should possess deep understanding of business processes and how those processes are supported with technical solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
1. Build a world class team by attracting talent and growing people
2. Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members
3. Work with developers and management to establish best practices for delivery of high quality, scalable software
4. Enforce best practice and policies for software delivery across development efforts
5. Manage day-to-day activities of a team of highly competent software developers, setting technical direction and code quality standards
6. Participate in the development of detailed technical design documents and in design reviews
7. Play an active role in key architecture and implementation decisions
8. Work with QA and Release teams to manage delivery from start to launch
9. Play an active role in team and company-wide architecture discussions
10. Demonstrate leadership and technical expertise in helping team members overcome obstacles
11. Adhere to release/project schedule and milestones
12. Interact regularly with Management to communicate status on milestones and impacts of technical hurdles
13. Fulfill role of mentor and teacher with junior developers and support staff
14. Assists management with developing and qualifying staffing plans
15. Address business opportunities through the best combination of SAP applications and other software production and development techniques
16. Lead Development team through builds, migrations, and rollouts of large software releases
17. Help project team with analyzing system development opportunities by gathering data, reviewing company operations, evaluating alternative methods and preparing time estimates according to project guidelines
18. Accurately estimate development time and coordinate/develop work and project plans
19. Work with project leader to keep projects on schedule and recommend needed action to meet deadlines
20. Effectively interact with all IT staff members, including programming staff, data center operations, system users, business leaders and managers
21. Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications
1. 10+ years experience leading and managing software development teams.
2. BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or related field, or the equivalent work experience, MBA preferred
3. Experience managing teams of 10+ FTEs and oversight of 20+ personnel (FTEs, contractors, consultants)
4. Ability to self-organize and work effectively with minimal supervision
5. Experience with large SAP implementations
6. Expert-level knowledge in one or more of the following SAP areas:
a. SAP ABAP, Data Dictionary, IDOC message processing, and ABAP Object programming.
b. SAP PI (XI) technologies.
c. SAP ERP modules: SD, MM, FI, and HR.
d. SAP BI.
e. SAP Retail or the AFS module is a plus.
f. SAP Portal (EP) and associated technologies (NWDS, Web Dynpro, etc.) is a plus.
7. Deep understanding of the Microsoft Technology Stack including .NET development
8. Experience developing business process automation, Software as a Service implementations, and integrating with Enterprise Software Solutions
9. Knowledge of object relational mapping, web services, SOAP interfaces, enterprise service repositories
10. Ability to create and meet timelines cognizant of business needs and constraints
11. Superior leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills
12. Ability to communicate highly technical information in an understandable manner to non-technical audiences through writing and presentations
13. Work experience reflects a progression of increasing responsibility in both technical and leadership roles
14. Demonstrated experience with mentoring others on methods and best-practices
15. Experience with Waterfall and Agile application development methodologies
16. Highly self-motivated, driven work ethic and directed, keen attention to detail and exceptional customer service orientation
17. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment and handle multiple issues at one time
18. Strong analytical skills; ability to perform complex systems analysis and draw conclusions by relating information from different sources, including root-cause analysis and issue resolution
19. Project management experience a plus
20. Retail background highly preferred

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
