The East Bay Monthly is a general-interest regional magazine of culture and commerce edited for readers in the San Francisco Bay Area. The East Bay Monthly covers food, health, science, the environment, entertainment and the local people who are outstanding in these fields--all the topics that are interesting to the people who live in the diverse and dynamic East Bay. Published since 1970, The Monthly is the oldest independently owned East Bay publication.

We're getting ready to launch an innovative website that offers a dynamic content driven web portal to complement our established print edition. We need interns to help us with the following:

*Develop and manage social media outreach.
*Integrate web based promotions platform (daily deals) into new online site.
*Integrate online advertising.
*Integrate social media.

We have been in existence for 40 years and we are creating a whole new way to connect to our audience online. We are starting at the beginning and need some insight and enthusiasm. Interested candidates should have a deep understanding of the latest trends in online journalism and social media.

Candidates must exhibit:
*Creativity, drive and intelligence.
*Ambition to succeed.
*Knowledge of trends within journalism.
*Ability to adapt to changing situations.
*Self-motivated team player.
*Tech-literate, knowledge of social media.

This is a great opportunity to gain:
*Real world experience in developing an online presence for a major Bay Area publication.
*Training in Metro Publisher, CMS, Google Adwords, DfP, and social media applications.

You will work with local leaders and influencers, social media specialists, local writers, talented editors, and a great design team.
