Project Description:

Startup Front-End Web Lead (Javascript/CSS/HTML5) @ PulseTracer

We are looking for a front-end web lead: a Javascript/CSS/HTML5 wizard, both passionate and articulate, with an uncompromising drive for building amazing experiences on the web. If you care about everyday health/wellness and about building a well-designed, user-centric product, we want you

We are using PHP5/Zend and an array of home-baked backend tech to build a large-scale application in the health/wellness space, solving problems that aren't particularly solved (yet), with a biometric data set few people have seen before. We aggregate personal health data using our patent-pending hardware, mine that data to help people lead healthier lives, and make it meaningful through a well-designed social experience on web and mobile.

The right candidate will have been tinkering with the social web for a decade or so and have mastery of CSS3, HTML5 and Javascript. You demand attention to detail, have Apple-like design sensibility, and a drive to implement pixel perfect renditions of designs. The ideal candidate will have some experience with the Zend Framework, intermediate to advanced PHP5 knowledge and previous experience testing views, especially when involving Javascript. You don’t inherit a lot of bad, legacy decisions - this position owns the web interface infrastructure, the presentation layer of the application, and ensures site compatibility in all major browsers (except IE6, yay!). Must be an active user of social and web/mobile experiences. Effective, concise writing skills are a big plus.

We are serious about agile processes, test-driven development, continuous deployment, pair programming (especially with developers working on non-view code) and clean, well-documented code. Our web product is built using a combination of PHP 5.3, Zend Framework, php-activerecord, phpunit, and jQuery. By the numbers, our team is evenly split between geeks from the games/social media space and health/wellness freaks - all committed to building a product that each of us use regularly and are passionate about.

Why you should apply:

You'll be an important part of a small, smart, agile company free of meetings and big-company politics, and working on an interesting user-facing product. This is an amazing opportunity to build the team around you that you've always wanted. Our startup is funded by prominent angels and we have a clearly-monetizable opportunity. We are located in the wonderful, sunny Mission district of San Francisco, close to public transportation and a variety of restaurants.

To apply, send along a quick résumé and links to your portfolio of sites and we'll take a look.

Thanks!

The PT team
