TriBarter’s mission is to help people, organizations and the planet by modernizing the practice of barter for today’s marketplace. TriBarter is an online trading community that gives members the opportunity to preserve the environment and gain value from the re-use of consumer products, reduce cash expenditures for new items, and trade services. The TriBarter website blends the convenience and safety of a best-practices online auction site with the ability to barter goods and services within both a global community, as well as personalized communities, reminiscent of the social networking concept. A community currency called cPoints allows members to trade items without having to find a direct barter match. Most venues for selling re-usable goods that are owned by individuals, such as consignment shops, accept only certain types of items and often leave the seller with far less than the actual value. TriBarter allows the seller to trade the item for something of similar value while facilitating the item’s re-use.
